We all know that February is the month of love and who do we love more in our lives than our pooches! At Walden’s Studio B we wanted to do something awesome to celebrate both while helping out an amazing cause!! February at Studio B has officially become “Smooch Your Pooch” month! When you bring in a can(s) or bag(s) of Science Diet dog food valued at $25, you will receive a 30 minute pet portrait session with Laura, our Studio B Associate. All of the food will then be donated to both the Woodford and the Lexington Humane Societies. You gotta get in on this! Click on the Studio B “Pets” gallery on our website and check out the awesome images of some of the pooches that have already visited us, then call Walden’s for details and to hold your spot (no pun intended:). Below is more information we have at various sponsors and business partners. So, grab Fido and get to Walden’s Studio B in February.

As you know, Walden’s has long been an appointment only studio. We do this in order to offer the absolute finest in service and experience. However, we have been around the studio Monday through Friday from 9am to 5pm, not any more, our doors will be closed on Mondays starting January 4th. We will be using Mondays to call on our business partners and take appointments away from the studio. Don’t worry WE WILL be manning the telephones on Mondays so feel free to call, we are happy to chat with you, answer any questions, make appointments or take care of whatever needs you may have. If an appointment is needed for Monday we can usually work that out as well, simply call and schedule it with us, just don’t drop by on Monday as you will miss us. Thanks as always for being part of the Walden family and we will be waiting for your call, even on Mondays :~)

Each year, we create portraits with emotion and meaning to those they are created for. What you may not realize is how meaningful they are for us as well. Very few people get to do something that truly celebrates life, family and love the way we do here at Walden’s. One of my favorite images this year is this one of father and daughter. Both mom and dad are in the military and dad was home for a short while to visit, but now is back in Iraq. I guess, because I have two daughters of my own, I find something special in father and daughter portraits.
If it’s time for you to have something special created, then this is the perfect time as you can see below.
With Christmas behind us and a new year right around the corner, Walden’s has an offer for you. It’s our annual “Free Museum-Style Framing” of any and all Black & White wall portraits created and purchased in January and February. We do this only one time a year and now is the time. So, I encourage you make your appointment and get that Relationship Black & White portrait done you know you need. In case you didn’t receive it, below if the card we sent with this offer.
P.S. In case you didn’t realize it, the Black & White Relationship brand was a creation on Walden’s many years ago and today is one of the most widely recognized styles in the world. For over 6 years our heart, not to mention our photography, has been wrapped around celebrating children and families. Each Christmas season we put a sleigh in our Walden gallery to collect gifts for children in Daniel’s Care (pediatric arm of Hospice) and each year, our clients have come through. Please take the time, this year, to bring a gift, check or cash for the sleigh. These items, 100% of them, go to the indigent fund of Hospice’s Daniel’s Care for families of children with life threatening or limiting diseases. Let’s not let this season slip through our hands without making a difference. Beverly and I are participating and we will help you help others as well. Bring a gift(s), new and unwrapped, to the sleigh and we will give you a $100. gift card to use for a session next year during the months of January, February or March. Thanks in advance and here is the link to our Daniel’s Care page on the Walden site. Also, while you are on our website, navigate to our video library and watch the WKYT-TV interview from a few years ago featuring our Daniel’s Care project. God Bless and Merry Christmas…

Well, our buddy Jeremy has been hard at work helping us freshen up the Walden website. It is full of new images, new galleries and great new ideas. We have also added a few new features so I thought I would create a quick video to show you what’s new and help you navigate through. It’s short and sweet so take a look.

I’m back after a rough start to October. I apologize for being absent but had a family member with some health issues but all is good now! I thought I would share a clip from a video magazine that Beverly and I did recently. This video magazine is incredibly popular among photographers all around the world, and the host, a great friend of ours Ed Pierce, a respected and well known image-maker himself. Anyway, Ed wanted to come back to Lexington after 7 or 8 years had past from the last filming we had done together and do an update. Here is a section on Relationship portraiture I wanted to share with you, hope you enjoy. Note; the video takes just a moment to start after you click play.

Well, we are back from an incredible time in Italy! Bev and I spent close to two weeks there. One week vacationing and the other one teaching a portrait workshop. We made many new friends and did several portraits on the streets of Italy (most in Siena). I am posting two images from one couples session in Siena to see what you think. We also did our share of details shots of the towns and some of the tourist style images as well (hey, those are important you know). I have a couple of those posted for you as well.
This brings up a point, one thing we do here at Walden’s you may not be aware of, are “Destination Portraits”. Granted, most aren’t in Europe, although that is an option, most are in places like California, Florida, Colorado and Louisville, KY
. We have a pricing schedule for travel anywhere you may wish (it includes a wall portrait as well) and we can do portraits in your home, condo, at the beach, in a special spot you love, or we can do our “Brand” of Black & White Relationship portraits right in you home by bringing our background and a few lights.
Keep it in mind, don’t let distance separate us, and for now, Ciao!!!!

I know it is still warm outside, but it is September, so we here at Walden’s are thinking about upcoming holidays. We just finished a staff meeting getting all of our Christmas plans in place for what we expect to be the best holiday season ever! We are sharing our new “Life Books” this season meaning many families will be beginning their “Life Books” to hand down to their children. Also, as we were chatting in our meeting and planning for Christmas, we talked about how we might connect our clients to those in need this season. Each year, we set up our Daniel’s Care sleigh and invite you to bring new, unopened toys or cash gifts to put in the sleigh for the indigent fund of Hospice’s Daniel’s Care. In a nutshell, Daniel’s Care is the pediatric arm of Hospice of the Bluegrass and your gifts go to help families with young children that have life threatening illnesses. We decided to start early this year by spreading the word (thus this blog post) and getting those that can help on board early. The sleigh appears the first Monday after Thanksgiving and remains until our last business day before Christmas vacation. I am telling you now to prepare your hearts and ask you to make sure we do the best we can for these families this holiday season.
In case you didn’t know, for nearly 5 years now we have donated a wall portrait a month to a family in Daniel’s Care. We produced this video of some of the wonderful families we have worked with to show at a National Hospice conference in New Orleans where we spoke and encouraged Hospice workers all over to connect with portrait photographers to provide family portraits for their families in Hospices’ pediatric care. Nothing celebrates “family” like a portrait and we want to make sure we do all we can for families in this community and beyond. Please plan on dropping off toys or cash for Daniel’s Care this holiday season, starting on November 30th. God Bless!
